High volume gears are machined to close tolerances to ensure proper engine pressure and correct, efficient pump operation. End plates are precision ground for maximum wear resistance. Every Melling oil pump is individually tested for pressure and flow under conditions designed to duplicate actual engine operating conditions.

Melling High Volume Oil Pumps for Ford 4.6L/5.4L V8 Engines

Melling has added two oil pumps, addressing oiling issues frequently found in Ford 4.6L and 5.4L 3-valve and 4-valve engines. The M340HV and M360HV high volume oil pumps provide 20% additional oil flow. This assists in increasing the engine’s oil pressure, by filling the additional clearances created by wear. As a result, the pumps exceed original equipment manufacturers’ specifications, to meet the demanding lubrication needs of those engines.

Melling engineering has designed these oil pumps as drop-in replacements for the original equipment. They do not require any engine modifications, pick-up tube assembly, or other components. We have utilized all of the the features in these new, high volume pumps, that make our stock replacement M340 and M360 oil pumps perform so well. Once such feature is the coated cast iron cover plates.

The M340HV is a 20% higher volume version of the M340 stock replacement oil pump. In comparison, the M360HV is a 20% higher volume version of the M360 stock replacement oil pump. In addition, the M360HV and M360 pumps have a 20 psi higher pressure relief setting in relation to the M340HV and M340 oil pumps, respectively.
